Sail with one of our friendly ASA instructors and learn the finer points of sailing at your own pace. Private lessons are $200 for 4 hours ($50/hour after 4 hours).
Private lessons differ from "public classes." The charge is for the boat and instructor, not a per person charge. You can bring as many as we can safely fit on the boat. The C&C 24 usually accomodates 4 to 6, plus the instructor. After that, it gets crowded in the cockpit.
We have several private lesson formats that work for most people. We can customize a sailing class to meet your particular needs such as a sailing refresher, new boat orientation, ASA 101 certification on a private lesson basis, man-overboard workshop, spinnaker flying worksop, and docking. You tell us what you want to do, and we will make the experience work for you and your crew.
Sailing Refresher or New Boat Orientation – topics covered are required and recommended safety equipment, Navigation Rules, proper rigging, tacking, gybing, points of sail, sail trim, crew over board, sail flaking, and line coiling.
ASA 101 Session One – you will learn how to rig a sailboat, the required and recommended safety equipment, Navigation Rules, roles and responsiblities of skipper and crew, tacking, sailing a triangle reaching course, de-rigging, sail flaking, line coiling, and line heaving.
ASA 101 Session Two – you will learn the second part of Day One of the ASA 101 course: rig the boat all by yourself, check for required and recommended safety equipment, docking, gybing, sail all points of sail by tacking and gybing, and finally return to the dock to de-rig the boat all by yourself.
ASA 101 Session Three - you will learn all points of sail by sailing an upwind-downwind triangle course, anchoring, crew-over-board, and returning to the dock under sail.
Sessions are taught on Lake Lavon. Reservations MUST be made at least 2 days in advance by making a $100 deposit.
